God gives us another chance
The man who planted the fig tree is Almighty God. The fig tree means the chosen people, you and me. The worker in the vineyard is Christ. God the Father decides to cut down the fruitless trees, Christ intercedes. He prays that we will have more time & another chance. That is the story of our life with Christ.
We have not borne fruit. We have not done what we were created to do. We have even done what God told us not to do. We have disobeyed His Commandments. We have not produced…….. Christ intercedes.
What do you think the message of today’s parable is?
God is always ready to give us another chance to change and to grow the fruits of His love. Just as the gardener was ready to care for the tree and help it to grow fruit, so Jesus will help us to be kind, loving, generous and forgiving and able to bear fruits of God’s life and love in us.
May Jesus continue to intercede for us and help us to get up when we fall and to try again, knowing that He will always give us another chance.
