It is time to order the Workbooks for Lectors. If you are a lector and would like to get a copy of the workbook please contact the office and put your name on the list. You will be contacted when the books come in. There will not be extra books in the sacristy this year. If you use any other books that need to be ordered on a yearly basis, please let the office know what it is you need.

Nuestra parroquia usa un proceso de cuatro-pasos para formar el concilio pastoral parroquial. Este proceso incluye oración, educación, discernimiento y compromiso.
1er. Paso: Oración: Todas las reuniones del concilio, empiezan y terminan con la experiencia de una oración mientras nos enfocamos en el llamado bautismal para construir el reino de Dios. Le pedimos a todos que oren y pidan para nuestros parroquianos y para nuestro pastor sabiduría y receptibilidad.
2do. Paso: Educación: En una reunión de información, informaremos a todos los parroquianos interesados y que quieran aprender más acerca de cómo servir y ser parte del concilio.
3er Paso: Discernimiento: Tenemos una Reunión de discernimiento para aquellas personas que asistieron a la reunión de información y que estén abiertos para servir en el concilio y hayan sido invitados por el pastor. Las personas asistentes consideraran los regalos y talentos de todas las personas y discernirán quien está siendo llamado por el Espíritu Santo para servir en el concilio. Cualesquier persona que quiera asistir a la Reunión de Discernimiento debe asistir a la Reunión de Información.
4to. Paso: Compromiso: El paso final en este proceso, es el de comisionar a los nuevos miembros del concilio pastoral durante las Misas del fin de semana. Entonces cuando el trabajo del concilio empieza, los miembros de este concilio reúnen información acerca de las necesidades y deseos de los parroquianos y toman las metas a largo y a corto plazo para desarrollarlas de inmediato.
Our parish uses a four-step process to form the parish pastoral council. This process includes prayer, education, discernment and commitment.
Step 1: Prayer: Each meeting of the council begins and ends with a prayer experience as we focus on our baptismal call to build the kingdom of God. We ask everyone to pray for wisdom and openness for our parishioners and our pastor.
Step 2: Education: We educate interested parishioners in an Information Meeting for those who want to learn more about serving on the council. Anyone can come or recommend someone to come to this meeting.
Step 3: Discernment: We hold a Discernment Meeting for those who attended the Information Meeting and are open to serving on the council and have been invited by the pastor. The people in attendance consider the gifts and talents of each person and discern who is being called by the Holy Spirit to serve. Anyone wishing to attend the Discernment Meeting must attend the Information Meeting.
Step 4: Commitment: The final step to the process is the commissioning of new council members during the weekend Masses. Then the work of the council begins as members gather information about the needs and desires of the parishioners and undertake the development of immediate, short-term and long-term goals.

“Benditos son los sirvientes a quienes el amo encuentra atentos y vigilantes a su llegada”. Tomado del Evangelio de este Domingo, nos habla de cómo todos somos llamados a ser servidores fieles y prudentes; ser discípulos en un mundo que está contra nosotros. Entonces lo que hacemos todos los Domingos al recibir la Eucaristía, es prepararnos para salir al mundo lleno de la gracia de Cristo. Para prepararnos para el mantenimiento de nuestra familia parroquial, los asuntos de negocios, los asuntos espirituales y educacionales tienen que ser atendidos de la misma manera atenta y vigilante. Entonces y para lograr esto, necesitamos de un Concilio Parroquial, el cual esté vigilante de los intereses de la comunidad y sea los ojos, oídos y corazón de esa misma comunidad, para que el Señor a su regreso, los encuentre atentos, vigilantes y preparando esta parte de su reino. Por favor continúe pensando y orando por este Concilio – porque la gracia de Dios caiga sobre el proceso de discernimiento y sobre los miembros que formen parte de este; y también porque todos nos demos cuenta de la importancia de él y para que todos nosotros sigamos el mensaje del Evangelio aquí en Santa Catarina Drexel.

My Friends,
“Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival”. Taken from this Sundays Gospel, it speaks to how we are all called to be faithful and prudent servants; to be disciples in a world that is against us. And so, what we do here every Sunday in the Eucharist readies us to go out into that world filled with the grace of Christ. In the maintaining of our parish family, the business aspects, spiritual and educational ends have to be met with that same vigilance. Therefore, we are in need of a Parish Council which has the eyes and the ears and the heart of the community in its awareness, so that the Lord will find us readying this side of his kingdom for his return. Please continue thinking and praying about this Council – for God’s grace upon the process of discernment and upon the members that it will be made of; and how important it is for us to follow the Gospel message here at St Katherine Drexel.

Activities that are held on the parish grounds after the Masses need to be scheduled in advance with Parish Office. We have limited space right out side the Parish Hall and need to coordinate what tables are being set up and events being held.
This will help avoid conclicts and over-crowding; while taking into consideration the needs and schedules of all events on the parish calendar and still meet the needs of our parish organizations.

Your 2010 raffle committee reports: First of all, thank you for your commitment and donations….We are still in need of more, although we went ahead in having the tickets printed. “Raffle Tickets”, Distribution of tickets is planned for the weekend of August 14 & 15, 2010. Everyone in our parish family is invited to please pick up your tickets. “Working for the Lord, pays very little, but your rewards are out of this world”. Working together, we can make a difference. As you make your donations, please note your check “Raffle” and payable to St. Katharine Drexel or give it to Hedwig. She will make sure that you get the credit & she will not have to call you later.
