About Faith Formation

Welcome to faith formation at St Katharine Drexel Parish!

Through faith formation at St. Katharine Drexel Parish we strive to support our families to become well versed in the tenets of our faith and committed to live as Jesus invites us to live. The primary educators of our children in faith formation are parents and families. To support this commitment of sharing our faith with our children parish faith formation programs are enriching and continue to grow.

Faith Formation:

Currently faith formation at St Katharine Drexel Parish is available to children beginning in grade one. Sessions run from September through May.

Sessions begin with the Sunday morning 8:30am youth and family Mass continuing with age level sessions in the parish hall until 10:30am. Youth are encouraged and invited to participate during Mass as servers, lectors, greeters, collectors and in the choir.

Sacrament of First Reconciliation:

First Reconciliation is received for the first time prior to First Holy Communion generally in second grade. Children hoping to receive this sacrament in second grade are expected to be part of the faith formation in first and second grade.

Sacrament of First Holy Communion:

The Sacrament of First Communion is generally received for the first time in May of second grade after the child has celebrated their First Reconciliation.  Children hoping to receive this sacrament are expected to be part of the faith formation in first and second grade.

Sacrament of Confirmation:

Immediate preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation assumes young parishioners have been in ongoing faith formation since Baptism. Confirmation in the Diocese of Manchester is available to young people who are in at least 10th grade.

St. Katharine Drexel offers Confirmation in the fall for students in at least their grade 10 year. Immediate preparation for the Sacrament is available to young people in at least ninth grade, meets on Sunday mornings and includes Sunday 8:30am Mass with class immediately following until 10:30am. Preparation includes a retreat, sponsor session, and opportunities for service hours to the church and/or community.

St. Katharine Drexel Parish is committed to lifelong faith formation offering catechesis, preparation for the Sacraments, and opportunities for active participation in Mass and our parish community.

If you are interested in enrolling or participating as a volunteer, please contact Gertrude Hammond, Director of Religious Education, at the parish office.
