Deacon John has a Masters Degree in Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and has worked for a major oil company for 31 years. After receiving his Diploma in Pastoral Theology from St. Mary’s Seminary, Deacon John was ordained a Permanent Deacon in 1999 by Bishop Joseph Fiorenza.
At St. Katharine Drexel he serves as the deacon of the mass, preaches, performs baptisms and is involved in RCIA catechesis, adult faith formation and marriage preparation. He also serves on the Liturgy Committee. Deacon John also gives days of reflection to various groups. He is a Secular Discalced Carmelite and a former member of the Deacon Community Board for the Archdiocese.
