My dear people of God.
Alleluia, the Lord has risen!
Today we celebrate the most important feast of the year and the most central event of our salvation, The Resurrection of Christ.
We re-live this magnificent mystery in the Eucharist we celebrate. Each time we celebrate the Eucharist we re-live the death and the resurrection of the Lord. St. Paul tells us that “If Christ has not risen from the dead, then our faith is in vain.”
Today we rejoice in the fact of our faith: “Christ has died. Christ has risen, Christ will come again.” For two thousand years we, as the people of God, have proclaimed this truth to the world.
We welcome all of you to St. Katharine Drexel. We extend our hearts and arms to you and want you to know how important you are to the church, the body of Christ. We remember younger years when we have joyfully celebrated Easter with our families. Some of our family members have been called back to a loving God in what the world calls death. Let us remember our loved ones and rejoice that because of the Resurrection of Jesus they are in the presence of God in an eternity of peace and joy.
