Being Prolife Involves More Than Being Against Abortion

When you say to someone, “I am prolife.” The focus automatically turns to abortion. But as Catholics, being prolife encompases so much more than abortion. Prolife topics include contraception, in vitro fertilization, stem cell research, euthanasia and capital punshiment. Courtesy of the Knights of Columbus and Catholic Information Service booklets are available to help Catholics to become more knowledgeable on these topics.

40 Days for Life

September 22 – October 31

40 Days for Life is a community-based campaign that draws attention to the evil of abortion through the use of a three-point program:

  • Prayer and fasting
  • Constant vigil
  • Community outreach

The 40-day campaign tracks Biblical history, where God used 40-day periods to transform individuals, communities … and the entire world. From Noah in the flood to Moses on the mountain to the disciples after Christ’s resurrection, it is clear that God sees the transformative value of His people accepting and meeting a 40-day challenge.

Mes De Respetar La Vida

Respect Life Month

Young people, please take a moment today, this week or tomorrow to thank not only your parents for choosing to have you but also to thank GOD for giving you life. Sometimes, some of us may have a thought that makes us wish we hadn’t been born, but during this month we are respecting ALL life. Life is precious and should be protected at all costs. Parents, look at your children: remember what a treasure God has given you in them even if sometimes they are a bit exasperating.

On October 27th in HS CCE class we will be conducting a Living Rosary in honor of LIFE. It should begin at appx. 8pm and parents and family are welcome to attend.

Also, we will be taking a head count to see how many young people and adults would like to participate in a Life Chain here in Hempstead at 2pm on Sunday, October 31, 2010. Please call Bridget in the parish office if you’d like to participate. It is an awesome event and only lasts an hour.
